Susan Inglis, Owner

Susan Inglis is a trailblazer. For over 30 years, the North Carolina native has worked across boundaries and borders around the world to supply connections and production capabilities that leverage the power of the global business platform.  Inglis holds a degree in anthropology from UNC Chapel Hill. She learned handcraft skills as she grew up, weaving and potting from her mother, embroidery and sewing from her grandmother, woodworking from her father and grandfather, knitting and crochet from the home economics teacher (in the few weeks before she forsook that class in favor of one in dramatic arts, little realizing these would be the handcraft skills she would use most in her career!).

Besides running From The Mountain and knitting, Susan loves to be in the garden and to spend time with her children and grandson.  She served as founding executive director of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, an organization she helped found in 2006, retiring from that role in 2022. Currently, she provides consulting services to the furnishings industry and elsewhere for companies that want guidance in reducing environmental footprint.

Abby Overton

Abby departed this life in 2021 and is sorely missed, not only at From The Mountain, but also by many others. We are so grateful she was part of the team and helped us contribute to global economic opportunities for women.
